This was a memorable day. I officially became a Texan and handed my Virginia Drivers License to one of the workers at the DMV.
There were multiple opportunities to speak to different people and share about Jesus. This guy in particular happened to be standing outside of the DMV as I was heading out. The weather was crazy and a Hurricane was on the horizon.
I walked up to him and started prophesying and prayed about some things too. (Instead of introducing myself I literally just start prophesying and this grabs the person’s attention like 99% of the time where the person is willing to actually listen and respond and sometimes wonder how I know them. I don’t but God does 😊.) After we conversed with one another he said he’d testify on camera.
He let me know that he got the chills because the prophetic word was on point.
I am thankful that what was said witnessed to him, however, prophetic words mean nothing if we don’t do anything with them and we don’t get transformed.
My goal when I walk up to people and prophesy is for an open door of transformation. I want people to experience Jesus and really know Him. I desire that people get free of addictions, ongoing negative patterns, blockages to breakthroughs, and more! (e.g., a lady I met in NY who used to sing but stopped singing in public due to stage fright.)
I also believe in fighting fear! I used to have actual diagnoses of social phobia and other weird stuff that really was more of a spiritual issue than a mental health issue and kept me in bondage. Not that witnessing is about me or anything but I find that God is using these opportunities to trust Him and follow Him to not partner with the fear of man and any other fears that try to get me to not to do what God has already told me to do.
The Bible tells us that God didn’t give us a spirit of fear so when FEAR shows up and other things too, it’s our responsibility to fight that thing and partner with the truth of what Jesus says. We must renew our minds and really be who God has called us to be – powerful, strong, mighty and bold in the Lord. Ok, back to prophecy.
Prophecy opens a lot of doors.
I literally just walk up to people and go off of the word I feel like God is strongly saying.
If I hear “beautiful”, I take the next step and let God fill my mouth and let His words flow. Sometimes the flow is a few minutes long. Sometimes 30 minutes or longer (e.g., the word “beautiful” all of a sudden can turn into a healing moment, tears and all).
Many times healing does happen physically but majority of the time inner healing takes place with the folks I meet on the streets, at the grocery store, at the library, gas station, doctors office, the marketplace, and pretty much anywhere God wants to go.
After the prophetic flow, I tend to ask questions to see if what was said resonates with the person. I personally like hearing feedback from the person and also in my quiet time with Abba Father (God).
Sometimes people actually want to give their lives to Jesus too. Which is the BEST decision ever. I have NO regrets. Jesus saved and delivered me from suicidal thoughts, severe depression and a whole lot of other stuff too!
Sometimes the direction is forgiveness. I remember hearing the word “father wounds” and the person I talked to confessed that she had some unforgiveness towards her father. With gentleness, prophetic words flowed as well as healing and whatever else I believed God was saying over this person.
I try to always ask people to get in the Word and test all things and hold fast to what is good regarding the prophetic word (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
Pretty much, I share all this to say: For with God nothing is impossible to move in God’s prophetic flow! Any believer can prophesy and grow in it. I believe prophetic words are super important. I have experienced so much personal breakthrough in my own life due to the obedience of others who prophesied over my life.
Be bold and allow God to use you today to speak into some one’s life. Just ask Him who needs a prophetic word and may your motives always be PURE in Jesus’ name.
God bless you,
